When I released “Show Me” this year, things began to alter in terms of who I was as a businesswoman and the kind of business that I wanted to be in. When my father and I first started Two Parrot Productions I was absolutely a novice videographer who had no professional experience shooting video or working with clients. My father and I really just started a little Mom and Pop video shop over the course of 2000-2001. Over the course of the last 7 years obviously there’s been a dramatic learning curve in the level of expertise that I have developed as a videographer.
However, since completing the book I have found that I now have a much broader interest in the world of the Internet and in communications through the broadband channel. It doesn’t matter whether this communication is through video, through social networking, through flash presentations or through animations. Using the broadband channel to communicate rich media messages that engage the viewer and prompt them to take action, have a lot of impact of the brand on the market that my clients are going after.
Although I own a video production company, I want to be adding new services. I want to be a consultant. I want to be a public speaker. I want to be working more on big scale strategies. Some months ago, probably in the month of May or June of this year I began to feel that I had outgrown Two Parrot Productions.
Although Two Parrot Productions has developed quite a reputation for dealing with high-end clients such as Bacardi, Moet Hennessey and Hyatt Hotels, our real niche and the thing that I wanted to focus is on our philanthropic program, working with non-profit organizations. I thought that if we could keep Two Parrot focused on that realm, my father could run that part of the business. He has been the driving force behind that side of the business ever since we developed it years ago. My real interest is in launching a new company that would give me access to working with a different type of client in a much broader way.
